US forces attacked inside Syria

Iran-backed forces operating in Syria attacked the US military base in Deir Al-Zor province on Wednesday.

Reports say that these forces fired six rockets at the station, which is close to a gas pipeline.

This base in Conoco area is a place where the US forces are monitoring the movement of the Iranian-backed forces that are transferring weapons to the Hezbollah forces in Lebanon.

US officials were quoted as saying that the rockets did not hit the base, and that there was no damage.

Reuters news agency said the US-led coalition at the base responded with artillery fire.

An official, who has not been named, said so far that there are no injuries, that they are aware of, that the forces have suffered, but it is possible that their preliminary reports may change.

The attack came as the US Department of Defense said on Tuesday that eight of its soldiers were injured in a drone attack by Iranian-backed forces on the base.

The Secretary of Information of the Pentagon, General Patrick Ryder shared this information with the media on Tuesday, blaming the attack directly on the armed forces of Iran.

Iran-backed groups operating in Syria and Iraq began attacking US forces in those two countries in late October, following anger over US support for Israel.

In February, these groups suspended their attacks against the American forces based in Iraq and Syria, when the Iraqi government demanded to be given an opportunity to show the United States that its forces should withdraw from its country, which did not work.

This month, these forces started to attack the US forces operating in these two countries.

The attacks on the American forces in the Middle East are coming at a time when the tension is increasing due to the killing of the leader of the Hamas organization, Ismail Haniyeh in Iran.

The Iranian government has vowed that Israel will regret the political assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.

There are fears that the war between Israel and Hamas will spread throughout the region.

President Joe Biden said yesterday that Iran can withdraw the attack it wants to take revenge on Israel, if a cease-fire agreement is reached in the conflict in Gaza.

President Biden said that there is a need for Israel and Hamas to establish a new ceasefire in Gaza, to stop the bloodshed of civilians.
